I recently purchased an 87 LX 5.0 and it has an 85 mph speedometer. Does anyone know what year Ford began installing the 100+mph speedometers?

According to Al Kirschenbaum in "The Official Ford Mustang 5.0 Techincal Reference & Performance Handbook", the 100mph speedo was introduced in 1989.

100mph speedo was in effect until 93' when new body style and 150mph speedo was introduced in 94'
