i have a 2005 bone stock GT manual. my warrenty is up this year and i'm looking to add some kick to the rear end with out any major changes. From my understanding, it produces 240 - 255 rwhp as is, right now. (no dyno's in my area). the parts list i'm looking at includes: BBK 62mm Alumminum throttle body C&L Racer Air Intake with a 95mm MAF MotoBlue H.O. Power pully kit MotoBlue Preformance Coils DiabloSports Predator flash tunner
this kit is claiming to add 55rwhp/58lbs-ft. beyond the kit, i plan to use an electric water pump from Meziere to free up another 8 - 12hp along with long tube headers, high flow cats, x-pipe, and a good cat back system. i belive a good exhuast system is worht as much as a 10% gain overall (unless my numbers a wrong).
so all in all, this would add up to in the range of 350 rwhp. is this realistic? i basicaly expect to be off as much as 20hp or more, but 330 would still be fine. i also am curious to know what ill effects this would have on the car in general, as it's a summer only car, i dont drag race with it, just like to open it up on old paved backroads around home, so the downsides will factor heavy here.

Hey man, The 255 sounds about right giving the 16% loss to the wheels, but I believe Ford underrated the numbers. They kit sounds good but you would get more bang for your buck if you did the gears and forgot about the water pump and pulleys. I ordered the Ford Raing Drag Pack for my 08GT since it is similar to what I had on my 04 GT. The 4.10 gears were awesome - they gave the car some much needed life and didn't hurt gas mileage either. I could cruise at 70mph at around 2400 RPM which isn't too bad.
The Throttle Body is a great investment, the pulleys you don't even feel so save your $$ there. The tuner is a definite thumbs up since it will optimize the PCM for what you have in it. If you put in the water pump make sure you get a seperate temp guage in case it fails - you don't overheat the engine. The coils really won't do much for you. I would understand if you had Nitrous or an S/C but the stock should be fine for now. Maybe get new plugs and some silicone type plug wires.
I would recommend the following:
Gears 3.73 or 4.10 (I always use 4.10) 90mm MAF with CAI (95 might be too much if you are Naturally Aspirated) 62mm BBK TB Diablosport or XCAL2 tuner LT Headers X-Pipe with High Flow Cats Cat Back
That combo should get you into the 330-350RWHP range and the gears will make you feel like you are flying. I would summize that you would be running high 12's in the 1/4 mile with that combo.
You are probably looking at about $3000 in total inluding the installs but it will definitely be worth it.
Hope that helps, Narsh

i was hopeing to avoid changeing gears, i like speeding throught the twistys, and find the stock step up perfect for heel/toeing.
the only gear i'd like to change is 5th (too wide) but that aint happening.

Well, gears are a personal thing. If what you have suits your style then by all means leave em' on. I am guessing you must have the 3.55's. I have the 3.31's on mine and I can't stand em. I like the 4.10's even for the twistys . Good luck with the mods!

I think the base tranny is the 3.33 which is what mine has and I can't wait to get rid of. It feels so dead to me. Plus the throttle lag on the drive by wire sucks big time...

if that page is right, then i have 3.55's. can you heel/toe? i've found the i can stay well with in the power band, i have noticed the drive by wire is a lil slow, but i just hit it on the apex a lil earlyer. what year is your ride?
