I recently purchased my 4th foxbody mustang which happend to be an 89 GT. The car is bone stock with 89k. I have always been a fan of the fast N/A cars, my question is this: How feasible is it to build a low 11/high 10 second all-motor powerplant that is reliable enough to be street driven and "bullit proof"? I am sick of boost problems and oil leaks, looking for a stout street/strip monster, any suggestions?

you've heard it a millon times"there is no replacement for displacement" size does matter. you want n/a power- go big, cubes that is.a nice stoked and poked 351 that"ll get you 408ci,a nice roller cam, good heads[patriots?]and a decent race intake.

how about a forged 331 stroker kit with some good aluminum heads and a good valvetrain package designed to rev high enough to make the power to go that fast, throw in a tremec or something, a ford racing driveshaft, some rear gears and you would have a very reliable street strip car, and decent fuel mileage compared to a 408 stroker. and you can still run all your stock accessory drive pulleys. probably cost less to build also.

I also beleive big cubes is the way to go.I have a very streetable 88 coupe with a 393 that runs low tens as for fuel milage I beleive that would all be in the tune and driving style and as far as price goes there is no cheap build for a bullet proof low 11 high 10 second street car

You could do it even with a stock bore 302, but the combo wouldn't be very street friendly due to the required cam/head/intake specs to make the needed power. I'd recommend doing the 351 based swap instead as it will allow you to be more "street driven friendly" with the components and still have enough power to safely run 10/11's with reliability.
