Hi everybody,

Ok so im new to this whole forum thing so please bear with me. Here is my problem. I have a 2001 Mustang GT and i love it. I have quite a bit if Bolt on mods to it, however, i dont have a tune for it, so at the 1/4 mile all i could manage was a 13.81 at 101mph. yea havent gotten my money's worth . well anyways i thought about getting it dyno tuned, but at my local shop they said its going to cost me a whoopping $500!! yea ouch! anyways, so  my goal is to eventually supercharge the car maybe next year sometime. so i figured i could do a head and cam swap and then dyno tune the car so i get my money's worth out of the the dyno. So i started looking around and i like the Patriot Performance Stage II heads and Comp cams XE274H. i really like the love sound of those cams. But i am wondering if it will work with my pistons?? I have heard of some people having pvt contact with smaller cams so im unsure if i should get these. I am also getting new cam gears to time the cams in just right. ok well thats my dilema, please help me out so i can put the parts on order and go back to the track be4 it closes for the season!! thanks

The ported heads are an awesome upgrade along with the cams.  However, I would go supercharged.  You would get more power for your dollar.  I understand the cam love.  There is nothing like a choppy lopey idle.  Heads and cams would probably get you around 50-75hp but a blower could net you 100-150 easily.  And about your tune, the new blower kits come with a tuner.  I have not been impressed with the dyno guys I have dealt with.  Now I do my own tuning and it is so much more rewarding.

thanx for ur input, i really appriciate it. I really want the 2.1 KB for the mustang, but i cant really afford it right now. I have heard of people getting 390rwhp with the SC. So if i was to do the head and cam swap i could easily be in the 425rwhp range. which would more than satisfy me, well at least for then. anyways i do have the money for the cam and head swap now i calculated around 3k having a shop do labor for me. not too bad, IMO. the KB is around 5 so yea a little too short. will the heads and cam work with the motor as a "bolt on"

anything over .500 lift you will have ptv issues... if you are not familiar with doing extensive work i wouldnt try to tackle the h/c swap yourself...

there is an older article from the mag, its even online here. I am thinking about the milder cam before I get forced induction. I think it was an xe262 that would work perfect with a blower, and no need to relieve the pistons
