The problem you are running into is the same that the '96 - '98 GT's have, they are non PI 2 valves just as your heads and intake are basically the inferior design to what the 99 and up 4 valves have and the aftermarket didn't really get into parts untill the 99 and ups.

On the plus side the '96 - '98 DOHC blocks are suppose to be stronger then the '99 and '01 units and you can place the better heads and intake from the later models on your own.  One thing you need to listen for is the '96 - '98 cobra cam fingers are known to develop ticks.

First off I would do the simple things if you haven't already.  The DOHC motors do respond well to exhaust upgrade and simple intake upgrades (i.e. throttle body and CAI etc) as well as gear changes getting that high revving engine into the power range sooner.  The other thing you want to check is timing the cams.  Ford OHC systems have been known to vary from bank to bank.

As far as superchargers go I know ATI and Kenne Bell both sell units for your car (one centrifugal and on positive displacement) so just shop around.

Big Thanks to my friends at KR Performance and Restoration out of Nebraska
