Anybody know the best way to install short tube headers or have any pointers. I was planing on doing it on a lift, so if anybody has done it that way i would love to know how you pulled it off. thanks!

Me and a few of my friends put my 07 gt on a lift and swapped out the stocker manifolds and installed a set of BBK tuned length shorty headers. It may not pose the same clearance issues, but I'm pretty sure it will be a VERY close fit, on an 05 to 07 model. When we did it, we had to disconnect the steering shaft, on the drivers side, that was no biggie. The problem, and I am sure you will have the same situation, is that on the passenger side motor mount, there is no way to get to atleast three of the header bolts, to either loosen, or tighten. We had to undo the motor mounts and lift the motor up about 2 inches, just to BARELY fit the header in and tighten the bolts. I suggest making sure the bolts are very snugg, without over tightening them, because you will have to atleast lift the car again, and undo the mounts to tighten them up to prevent leaking. Those were the only rough issues. We installed a full exhaust, headers, mid pipes, mufflers, and also rototated the tires/wheels, and it took us about 10 hours. The issues that made it take so long were tight quarters, where you couldn't fit certain tools, and the issue with jacking up the motor, if it wasn't for the exhaust being a clamp together system, it would have took forever. Keep in mind though, that we are a group of shade tree mechanics with basic car knowledge, and are in no way ford certified! LOL. It can be done by anyone with basic mechanic skills. Time consuming, but not impossible. Hope this helped.
