86 5.0 idle ramps up and down, but runs fine while driving......

ok so my 86 5.0 keeps having this idling problem, it runs great under throttle and never acts funny but when i get to a stop light it'll start ramping up or stay at around 1200 RPM's when i first got it it idled perfect around 800 or so....i need help so i can solve this problem. Any Shops around the Northern part of indiana that specialize in mustangs?

sounds like your idle air control valve is shot or dirty. located on the throttle body you can try taking a can of throttle body cleaner and clean the gunk out of the iac or go to your local auto parts store and pick up a new iac. simple removal and installation shouldnt take u anymore than 20 minutes if that.

hey im new to this but my 88 lx was acting the same way clogged up lines but wonting to know if any one know about a used good T-5 transmission for sale i can pick put any where in indiana im from muncie thanks for the help
