I love my last 3 mustangs but after reading this in the car and driver mag (I believe this was the mag)I'm angry. I saw that the v6 will have 319 and the top camaro will have 425. Has Ford said anything about the new mustangs? Will it match or exceed hp in both engines? What sucks to when I read the article is the price range is 22,000 to 35,000. If I bought a v6 through some mods on, it would be faster and still be under the dollar amount I paid for my 06 gt. Anyone else have any news

I wouldn't sweat too much. While that V-6 makes 300 HP, that peak comes at 6500 RPM, which most cars on the street never see. Peak torque is at 5200, and comes in at 272 ft/lbs, so that means the base car is gonna be anemic on the bottom end like the old 2.8L V-6 powered 3rd Gen cars.

Rumor is that the new mustang will be out for 2010 with a brand new larger displacement engine slated for 2011 in the GT. I've heard this engine will likely be rated at or near 400hp. As for a 300 hp V6 Camaro, don't forget that torque is king not horsepower. The old stock 5.0s were known to occasionally dip into the 13s with just 225hp.
