With not a single mod, my best run was 14.1 @ 98mph.  I have a 2006 Mustang Gt coupe auto with 18" wheels on street tires.  I was expecting a little better..does this time seem average????

Yeah, 14 seconds is about right for a stock mustang!

that sounds about right, the stick runs 13.8-14.00 @99-100,so ur 1/4 mile time is right on the button.ive personally witnessed a bone stock stick run a best of 13.9@around 100.

I brought my bone-stock (still have an old paper filter in it) to the track last weekend for the first time.  I came here to see what most Mustangs do in the quarter mile.  I was extremely happy with the night. My first run was 14.10 and it improved from there!  I ended up having four constent times in a row that, after looking at this forum are really good.  I got a 13.61, 13.56, 13.62, and 13.63!!!  ...All at or above 103 mph.  It was night, the temp outside was around 58 degrees and I'd go up the starting line with my hood open and off as long as possible (actually pushed it some of the way). I was warming up my crap stock Pirelli's really well when I did these four runs and having to launch below 3000 RPMs, otherwise too much wheel hop.  If the rev limiter went about 200 RPM's further it would have been great...I had to either stay in third and die out at the end (got the 13.56 and 13.63 times staying in third) or make a really quick shift to fourth (got the 13.61 and 13.62 shifting into fourth).  My car is a standard tranny and I have 17" rims.

Are the times better if the car has 3.55s in the rear? I have an 08' GT with the 4.6 5 speed with 3.55s.I have the BF Goodrich T/A KDWS tires.

It all depends on where in the country you are racing your Stang. Another factor is driving technique. I have a bone-stock 2007 Mustang GT with an automatic. In similar weather conditions (maybe slightly warmer) I ran a best of 13.78 in a completely stock ride. I believe speed was 101 or so. The car has the standard 3.31 rear gears. Stickshift cars run a little quicker, with a good driver.

I found with the auto, it is best to leave at 1,000 rpm and roll into the throttle on stock tires. It took a few tries to get the proper technique between excessive spin and dead hooking the car, on stock Pirelli tires.

One thing that I do have different than you are 17-inch wheels/tires. The lower rotating weight will certainly make a difference on these cars.

Other observations with these new cars, cool them down for awhile. The engine management system kicks in a little torque management control when you hot-lap the car. That slows the car down by several tenths, in most cases.

After the baseline runs, I added a DiabloSport Predator, with the Diablo-supplied 93-octane tune and the car ran consistent 13.50s at 103 mph. The auto tran shifted much nicer too.

I have an 06 mustang gt, stock 18in rims and tires, cold air intake, steeda underdrive pulleys, diablo predetor tune, and flowmaster mufflers, and a steeda cowl hood to lessen heat, and 3:73 gears, I ran yesterday 13:57 at 104 is that bad?

No, not bad at all. I have similar mods, and my best time is 13.64 @ 103, with the stick. Still have the stock crappy Pirelli 17" tires though. Just got some MT drag radials, but have not made it to the track to test them yet. I would really like to see your cowl hood. I have really liked the looks of these hoods, but have not seen them, except for mags. If you have any pix, do post, or shoot me an E-mail if poss.Dennis.   or e-mail add. yz445@comcast.net

Just got back from the track with the MT drag radials. Before the tires, my best time was a 13.64. With the drag radials, best time was a 13.23 @ 105.  60' time dropped really good too.  Before was a best of 2.08, now a best of 1.87  60' times. So I think the tires did a great job of getting better traction. Dennis

My best pass last year was 14.1 with a 108 mph bone stock. I have since add the steeda cold air and the sct xcal 2 tuner set for the c/a and 93 octane and now run consistently 13.1-13.5 at close to 115 mph. I am going to try taking out the spare tire next time, has anyone else tried that ??

oh mines a 05 gt with stick

sorry mr smokeshow but I don't believe you, if your hitting 115mph your time should be alot better then that. Also a bone stock??? no way I did a 13.5 yesterday at 104, hell if I would hit 115mph my time would be alot better

since I started this thread some time ago I figure I' give an update.  I've since added a JLT II cold air kit w/SCT X3 tuner, Bassani catted X pipe and JBA Axle back.  Best ET is a 13.39 and best mph is 104.56 on street tires.  Going to get Steeda under drive pullies and aluminum driveshaft soon..shooting for 12's w/ my auto and stock 3:31s!
