What do I need to do to remove the smog pump?

OK, I'm still new at this. I searched the threads and found most of what I need. If you remove the pump and use a shorter belt, it looks like the tensioner will need to be adjusted. Is this right and how do you do it?

The tensioner is self adjusting, provided you have the right size belt. The tensioner has a gauge on the front of it to tell you when it is properly adjusted. Have a friend hold the tensioner in the correct position and then route your stock belt to fit. Use a pair of locking pliers/Vice grips to pinch the slack in the belt and then release the tensioner to verify it is still in the proper area. you may need to do this a couple of times to get it right. Once you have the right length, take the belt to the parts store and have them measure it.
