i would subscribe to a foxbody magazine real quick. i stopped renewing my subscriptions when all the magazines had 2 or 3 fox articles, and the rest was sn-95 and s197 stuff. hopefully not all drag racing either as there are people who autocross and open track their foxes. you have interest here.

I let my subscription to MMFF lapse a year ago after subscribing since 1999 because of the enormous amount of S197 coverage. I also just let my subscription to 5.0 go for the same reason. Modified Mustangs USED to offer a Fox, an SN95, a New Edge and an S197 in each issue. For that, I re-upped for a two-year subscription. The next month they started with the "& Fords" crap. If they had given notice of that change, I would have let it lapse as well. It seems odd to me that most of the content of these three magazines is devoted to a couple of hundred thousand owners of 05+ cars, while the couple of MILLION owners of 79 to 04 cars are left out. I understand that the advertisers drive most of the coverage, but they're not going to have anyone to advertise TO if the subscribers all go away.
Source Interlink owns all three mags: MMFF, 5.0 and MM&F. Why not reorganize so everyone has a magazine they like? 5.0 Mustang can be renamed "05 and Up Mustangs", Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords can be renamed "Late Model Mustang Performance" and cater to the 79 to 04 crowd. Modified Mustangs and Fords can go back to being "Mustangs and Fords" and make the classic crowd happy.
Would I subscribe to a 79-04 specific rag? Oh yeah, I'll even prepay a 5-year subscription.

I would love to see a fox specific magazine as well. I understand that everyone wants equal coverage but it's disappointing to open a magazine and see only one fox article.

Hey, just as an overall enthusiast in all of my years reading MM/FF, my personal interest in the magazine has gone down. I'm tired of the articles on new mustangs and it seems every other page is advertisement. We have a real calling here in which really got this magazine booming since the early 90's when it was about the foxbodys. I'd really like to see a magazine on this platform not 5.0 mag. it seems repetitive from the same articles in MM/FF. So how about a magazine on just foxbodys ? Thanks, D

i just went to the store and bought 3 of these magazines just to show my support haha. i cant put it down... its like the old 5.0 or mm&ff!
its upsetting to see how this has happened. why would the mustang magazines concentrate so heavily on the style of mustang who's owners make up maybe 20% of the majority? and of those owners, how many of them are modifying their warrantied cars as heavily as the fox crowd is right now. its hard to find a stock fox out there nowadays, the people building these cars must be investing billions into the performance market. 95% of s197's on the road still have factory exhaust. i dont get it...
mr. bauer, mm&ff, 5.0, any of you people, if you want an idea of how strong the fox community is, i urge you to go on stangnet, corral, foxbodyforum, or any major mustang enthusiast forum and take a look at who generates the most activity on their boards. i think you'll see that the fox 5.0 crowd is not a group of people that you would want to have lose faith in you and interest in these magazines.
stangnet.com corral.net foxbodyforum.com
check them out.

I would be all for a Fox 5.0 magazine. Performance tips, installation articles, whatever. There are also so many gorgeous foxes out there, just look on any Mustang forum. You could do enough issues on custom foxes for a lifetime. And they're not just exterior modifications and the usual supercharger like you see with the S197 Mustang. They're all different, but really they're all exactly the same. I can't even count how many foxes have an engine swap, or are stroked out, no two are alike and I love it. I would definitely subscribe to a magazine that had new (or even republished) articles on fox Mustangs.
It could even just be a quarterly magazine, and I'd still subscribe, but monthly would be awesome!

Thanks everyone for reading MM&FF, past and present. We do carry a difficult task of catering to several generations of Mustang owners that range from '79-'08. It is a daunting task that certainly has us scrambling each month to find a balance with the different body styles and what amounts to 5-6 different engine combos. Naturally, the '05-up Mustang is super-hot right now due to its newness.
We did the Fox-Body Special (1979-'93 Mustang Performance, on newsstands now) to try to help satisfy those who only want Fox performance stories. It is a mix of new and old stories. For those who haven't picked it up yet, please do so because without support the people upstairs won't let us do another one.
I will admit, doing 5-liter stories has been difficult at times because we have beat that horse with so many stories it is hard to do it again and again. Buuuut, we do try to mix it up with some lower budget builds and higher budget stuff to satisfy both sides of the market. It seems the Fox market is split in the middle between traditional bolt-ons and more hardcore tech like turbocharged stroker engines.
I am a 5-liter guy through and through, my '07 is the first mod-motor Mustang that I have ever owned. But I will take a 5-liter any day!
Thanks everyone for reading MM&FF and our special little 1979-'93 Mustang Performance magazine. It was fun putting it together and I hope everyone goes out buys a copy and tell their friends to do the same.

I understand you guys may feel you have beat the horse with 5 liter stories, but there are a lot of people just now getting into this hobby who aren't like me with hundreds of magazines going back for years. Also, it's not like the ford aftermarket for the 5 liters has sat back and stopped producing performance parts. Perhaps a good solution would be the quarterly magazine already proposed. I have posted about this magazine on a few mustang forums, and have found my link posted on others. Everyone who has responded did so with enthusiasm. Quite a few went looking for the magazine and were unable to find it. Those that found it bought it. I know the CVS where I bought mine was sold out the next time I went in there. As I posted here earlier, why not put up a poll or a subscription form for a quarterly magazine and see if the results would make it profitable to start up the magazine. What do you have to lose? You put up the subscription form and if an internet campaign doesn't get enough subscriptions, you don't produce this magazine quarterly.

I picked up a copy of "1979-'93 Mustang Performance" for $5.99 while traveling on business in Ohio and was very excited to see a Fox platform only mag. I was a little reluctant though, seeing how it was half the size of your other publications but the same price, but thats the thing about us Foxbody guys, we eat sleep and breath these cars and to see something that appears to cater to what we like is a breath of fresh air. After 4 years of faithful reading I let my subscription to MM&FF expire, I also currently still subscribe to 5.0M&SF and Modified Mustang which have both taken a bit of a turn. Bottom line for me: I think you guys made a great decision to give this new mag a trial run, I hope you recognize the need for a publication like this on the market. I will subscribe in a second if it becomes available (I tore though this mag looking for subscribing info but was disapointed)
One question I have is... Does your company have a list of all subscribers and there interests?

I can tell you right now that if there was a "Fox only" magazine out there I would subscribe in a heartbeat. Right now I can't justify subscribing to your magazine because 90% of the stuff covered has to do with the newer Stangs. I would also like to see more articles that deal with restoration.
BTW Where can I find this Magazine? I went to several stores and they didn't have it. I live in California.

I'm a Fox owner, but I love all Mustangs from 87 up so I'm content with the content I'm getting.
HOWEVER...as a subscriber since 1991 ( i have every single issue still) WHY CAN'T I GET THAT FOX SUPPLEMENT IN THE MAIL? I've been a subscriber for 17 YEARS straight (9 yrs with 5.0 Mustang mag)and my thoughts are that the subscribers come first...not the guy who goes to the newsstand for 5 issues a year. Had I not read this thread, I would have never known about it.
As far as a 79-04 only magazine, it'll definitely sell. I like the 5 year subscription idea A LOT. If you are still a Fox fan now, you're a lifer so a 5 yr subscription is no big deal.
As a financial analyst, I know its a no-brainer to put this campaign together.
What's it gonna cost to hire a few writers to keep the mag informative for 5 yrs? (Wasn't Cars Illustrated started in a back room somewhere?)
How many subscriptions and at what price must be achieved at a minimum 5 yr prepay obligation? Make the people commit....its the only way to ensure the demand is there
Sell 5yr package deal advertising to the big guys to try and get to your break-even point.
Let the 2nd and 3rd tier advertisers and the thousands of additional subscribers provide the profit once it gets rolling....and it will.
Its only numbers guys. These cars aren't going away.

Thanks everyone for picking up the magazine! Unfortunately, I don't think we will be doing a dedicated Fox magazine but we will be bringing more 5-liter tech to the table and also trying to focus on the bolt-on 5-liter stuff as well.
The Fox special issue was fun to put together and we will be doing another copy of it in '09.
Cars Illustrated wasn't started in a back room and sadly it was killed off because it lacked advertising support. That magazine was perhaps the most influential magazine in our segment, remember Muscle Mustangs was spawned from that title. Still today, we talk about the craziness and awesomeness of that title. Those guys did extraordinary things at a time when performances was starting to make a return to the mainstream automakers.
Thanks everyone for your constructive criticism, for those who have canceled your subscription--don't be strangers! we have some good stuff coming out, check the mag on the newsstand and hopefully you will enjoy it enough to pick up the magazine.
