I have yet to purchase an new bodied mustang, but have had 5 86-02 models.  GT's, LX, Cobra, hardtop, convertables  all v8s.

I miss the ease of working on the fox bodied cars.  It was simple to swap everything IMO.  The 01 Cobra had to have most of the work done at a shop to the complexity beyond my skills.  I look at the newer ones and am pretty scared even more so.  I'd have to get a tune after every part swap.
Maybe if it exists a "back to basics" article on each 5.0 and 4.6 2v and 4v in the same month.  If space won't allow then maybe do a month for each.  Run the same mods.  Get baselines, do tuneups, swap air intakes, TB, exhaust and headers, then tune and re-dyno.  Then put the cars on the track.  Compare cost of upgrades/overall performance.  It'd be hard to find a stock 5.0, but even I have a stock 02 GT, so their should be plenty of those.
Something else to consider, while I like the "budget 4.6" build, I'm getting nothing out of it because I'd just breakdown and have a shop do it or order a $2800 short block from MMR or any other number of good shops.  I only came to that conclusion after I read the latest. In the end I'd come out slightly higher than if I did it myself and I know their work is far superior.
My last thoughts on this discussion would be instead of having an all inclusive 5.0 magazine, why not run a "high-end" mustang mag, and a lower-end style.  One would be full of the blinged out mustang from the manufacterers, shops, and high-dollar show/race pieces.  The other would be a grassroots style with more standard cars.  Lots of reasders inputs and smaller featurettes.  You'd probably capture a lot of the 5.0, 2v 4.6 crowd in the grassroots mag, over the high-end one since all the high dollar builds are 3v mustangs.  Looking over the past 3 years of magazines I have lying around the majority of the features have been those.
The cover of the high-end mag would almost always be some manufacterer like steeda while the other would probably be the average Joe with a great home built stang.
I've had my car shoot for the magazine back in June, and am still waiting for it to show.  I think it's due in part to the "big dogs" tossing out all the variant 3v cars lately.  IMO my 4v 01 Cobra is everything the pesky 3v guys want.
I think if I get around to buying a new mustang, I'd probaby get an 05 and swap in a 4v motor (it'd be a 5.4 though) just because since the 3v has been around we feel like red-headed step children.
Sitting at my computer I have the Feb 08 issue handy and see on the cover the new $40K+ bullit (why it's a stock production car).  Page 78 has a 3V slugfest, page 94 has a GT500, as does page 160.  Page 118 has a article written by Mike about building a stronger bottom end on a turboed 3V.  Also included is a good article on a 5.0 nitrous install as well as a feature on Stinsons 92 red convertable. Lastly on page 110 is an over the top blinged out 95 GT convertable.
I think this is a fair representation of all the mustangs.  You have 3 5.0, with one being a 95GT and 3-4.6 articles.  You have good tech about the nitrous install on the 5.0 and good tech on the build for the turbo 3v.  I see no disparity.  That's why I suggested the high-end mustangs mag and a grassroots/average Joe magazine.  That would satisfy me.  I'm only upset with the amount of high-dollar shop cars, and Steeda/PJ/Shelby ones that seem to always get the lead right now.  I know they are hot, but probably only 20% (or less) of the subscribers can afford them.
What ever happened to the mustang with a story?  Not the one tooting Steeda's horn, but the one built by the normal guy who did a lot of the work himself for a reason.  Say he build it with his son, or he/she built it as a tribute.

^^^   What the hell?   ^^^

Four posts and they're all random spam.  Very nice.  There's one hotel that I'll never use.

This board needs a "report" button.

Its a bummer that there is no intention to carry this as a recurring issue, monthly, quarterly, or otherwise, as it would SELL, SELL, SELL.  Definitely a good read and has already seen more abuse from my end table than last month's MM&FF will ever see.

I can see why it would be a tough decision to break away to form a magazine dedicated only to the Fox...  But with the struggle to fit enough stories to satisfy everyone between the covers of MM&FF with all the different, popular generations of Mustangs these days, maybe it is time to split and form a couple of magazines that are era-specific.

This is what I don't understand.  You have a market for a product that doesn't exist.  Why not fill that niche and reap the rewards?  Most of us would even settle for a quarterly magazine in the hopes that the subscriptions and newsstand sales would convince you to go full time.  Set up quarterly issues for one year.  I'm sure you could do 4 magazines of 79-93.  If the results weren't there, so be it.  We all know the results would be there, as would the advertisers.

hmmm this whole thing, 1555 views so far... this whole thing started on stangnet and has spread all over the internet in a few weeks. maybe, since we're obviously being ignored, we should all organize a boycott of primedia until we get what we want?

cant wait for the new mustang to come out so i can read all about that pos for the next 5 years...

I would subscribe.  The fox has been forgotten.  I used to subscribe to 5.0 mustang and MMFF back when 5.0s weren't on the back burner.  Not everyone has 40 grand to drop on a new stang or would anyway.

To those who have posted in this thread, thank you.  To those who just stop in and read it, take a minute and sign up.  Let the editors know how you feel.  This is now the number 1 viewed thread in this section of the forum.  Editors, look at how many people will come over here to see if you guys are putting a magazine together or not.

Almost 2400 views of people looking to find out more information on this magazine..  Come on editors.  Just a quarterly version that I can subscribe to. Or just post how many subscriptions you would need for this magazine to be feasible.  Let me help get this rolling.

I would definitly subsribe to it. Been reading your mag sense 1994 and beening a fox owner it would be really nice to have something devoted just to the '79-'93 cars.
Thank's

3100 views.  Most posting in here are new members.  If an IP log was done, I'd bet you'd find most of those views come from non forum members.  The interest and market is here.

i already subscribe to mmff and would would subscribe to 3 years on a fox only magazine. plus several friends and family members who would also subscribe. Look at the fox forums they are still very strongly active, this an untapped market.

If you don't make a Fox only mag it will be a big mistake.Someone else will and by looking at all the replys to this thread I see a lot of lost readers for you.

I would definetly subscribe to a fox body only mag. The present Mustangs are not even close in comparison, and w/ the Fox's being the most popular Mustang made I wouldnt see this being a lose. I used to subscribe to MM&FF, but stopped due to the very few pages relating to my year/style Mustang.  Please help us keep our classics ALIVE!
