ok I want to buy an assemble short block. i want either a 331 or 347. I have followed 2 different MM&FF project "Stolen Goods" and "Procharged Pony". I want my 91 gt to be everything that they built stolen goods to be. the only problem is that i cannot afford the boss engine build. i have a budget of $3000 for the short block assembly. my car will be a DD and someday i want to put a procharger on it, i just don't want to rebuild the motor to do it. what do you guys suggest? for an engine? thank you for the help.

Sorry, I am new here; what's a DD?
You want to build from scratch for under 3 G's? Good luck.
My experience:
I bought a friend's block (306 w/Mahle guts) for 1500, TFS heads for 1200, and an Edelbrock Performer II intake for 600. That is not counting all the other stuff. If I did it all over again, I would just buy a crate motor built for the charger (specifically gaskets). My case, I would just buy the 340 horse ford 5.0 for 5 G's and put my blower and the Edlebrock intake on it; dial in the PMS and call it a day. It would cost 1/2 as much to do compared to building an engine piece by piece.
I would make two price lists and write down everything part you will need and compare that to a crate motor and see which comes out the cheapest. Also, consider the time factor for you to build it. Of course, if you just want to build a motor to build a motor then forget what I said about the crate motor but it will cost you more than you think (I don't mean to deter you from building a motor but please consider cause I spent about 5 G's more than what was really necessary)
Good Luck

DD means daily driver. His budget is 3k for the short block....which is what u spent 1500 on. Heads & intake are a separate budget.
I would go with a dss 306 pro bullet which starts around 2200 and u can upgrade a few things for more boost and come in under 3k. Stay away from strokers for a dd car unless you put less than 15k a year on the car....they tend to wear out much faster.
