Hey everyone - I am working on a 302 to put in my 1963 1/2 Comet body;  I have a mid-70's block and an early 80's block, both cranks, rods etc.  My heads are Powerheads ported 65 Mustang heads with 7/16 studs, guide plates, single spring ( up to 550 lift I believe), 1.94/1.60 valves, and 54cc chambers.  I am considering a Thumpr cam, retrofit roller hydraulic, shorty headers, Weiand Stealth manifold, 550 - 600 Holley, etc.  I have an AOD ( 1989) and a 2400 RPM converter, plan to use the 8" rear with 3.50:1 gears and trac-loc.  I want to keep the compression to under 9.5:1 to use pump gas, <9.0 is better since heads are iron.  Any thoughts on piston height, specific parts?  Feel free to critique my plans - I am open to suggestions!
Thanks!

BTW - I guess I should mention this will be a semi-daily driver, and used for some trips, etc.  I plan to drive it, so I don't need to make it scream;  I'm 60, and always wanted a car with the sound we had then... hence the Thumpr cam idea.  I stumbled on the heads on Ebay, couldn't resist... and i can't afford to shelve them for an alum. set... etc.
Thanks again.
