Ya it sounds like I'll definetly be using the 351w. Thanks. Although, my boss is a big ford guy and he thought for the money I want to spend and the power I want to get that (for a fox body) a 1969-71 302 might be better. I dissagree, but does anyone think that it would be better to use the 302?

NO !!!! a 351W will "SMOKE" a 302 all things being equal ! a 1969 Mustang with a stone stock from the dealer 351W 4V carb engine was rated at 290 HP and A friend had one of thses that kicked butt and took names, especially 289 and 302 engines !!!! go with the 351W , I have ben doing this a long time , I'm 51 and never hot rodded anything but FORDs , I have built many 289 and 302 engines and when I started building 351W engines I got rid of ALL my 289 302 stuff cause you cannot outrun a 351 all things being equal ! I got my first 66 mustang when I was 15 cause that was the legal age to start driving in Mississippi at that time and have built various 65-66 and one 69 mustang along with a station wagon and a 66 GALAXIE 500.

Chop, make sure your engine combination matches, (IE.)race heads on a stock motor or vice versa will run like junk, also 11-1 will require atleast 91-93 octane unless youre running aluminum heads, 10.5-1 with cast iron is best bet.Remember to check the cam to piston interference, most aftermarket pistons are safe if they have valve relief notches on top, stock pistons are safe to .0520 lift camshafts.if youre gonna street drive this car, look into the edelbrock performer rpm set ups.Just remember make your your engine combo matches, dont use huge diameter headers, a huge carb, or a huge cam if youre running mildly built stock heads, or if youre running a stock rear/trans, make it all work together..
