'99 mustang gt..need help

I just got a yellow 99 gt and I'm looking to go fast! lol I'm 16 don't know anything about cars and about to get my license so i wanna get my baby ready.. I was lookin at the motor and i noticed it had a k&n filter on it, and i'm not sure if thats stock on these...if it is then its most likely all stock. So if it is what would you suggest to be the best first mod under 400 thats gunna add a little push? I've looked around and heard throttle bodies plenum intake 410 gears or lower I've also heard exhaust will help and makes it sound hot, but it can be exspensive chips have been suggested too, but I wanna jnow whats gunna give me bang for the buck.

also it has posi...don't know if that means anything to anyone but i'm pretty sure it doesnt come stock

Hey bud,
My honest recommendation would be drive the car the way it is till you get use to the power before changing anything. The 99 GTs are plenty fast in stock trim and the aftermarket is full of parts you can add as you driving skills develop. Get use to the car the way it is, then when you're ready for more power you'll appreciate the changes you make because you'll be able notice the difference a lot more.

I agree. Slow down a bit and learn your car. Get your driving skills up to par. Thats the biggest thing in makeing a car go fast. You can have the same car but run diffent times, with two different drivers. A good driver who knows the car and a bad one, someone who doesnt know the car. The one who know the car is going to run faster.
Then get you mods. You'll appriciate your money more when you see each mod grow on your car.

The best way to make your car fast it to learn how to drive it. Don't know if there are age limits, but try going to track days if there is a road coarse around you, see if you can get an instructor, then you can learn how to drive fast and safe, then once your skills past the performance of the car, start modding it. Otherwise 3.73 or 4.10 are fun.
