Just felt the need to start a new thread   Why V6's fall flat:

1)  Missing 2 holes.

2)  Aftermarket parts are more expensive.

3)  Resale is less rewarding.  Collector's item....think not.

4)  Still, it's a V6 and I'm no one's b*tch.

5)  Equal dollar spent, V8's yield more power.

6)  Everyone with a V8 laughs at you.  (This is a big one.)

7)  If you want to be different, put a small block in a Yugo.

8)  You impress the clueless people on the road because you drive a "Stang".  (These people only know how to put gas in a car.)

9)  The single 2" pipe almost always gives you away.  (Your girlfriend complains about this too

10)  Ford made this car just for you, and they're laughin' all the way to the bank!!

Ps- The V8 guys are laughing as well!

Most young Mustang owners cannot afford a GT Mustang. Especially when they are going to college etc. And yes I agree GT Mustangs are cost effective based with comparable sport cars (Camaro's, Transam's etc ) but that small cost difference could result in a person who wants a mustang setting for something else. Ford puts smaller engines in these cars for a reason to sell to younger crowd who cant afford the higher optioned models.  I own a 98 GT but if I were strapped for cash I would gladdy pick up a V6 Mustang over an import or Transam. Why ??? BECAUSE IT IS A MUSTANG!!! And if you are that threatened by somebody wanting to improve there car V6 or not then maybe you are affraid god forbid you'll lose to a highly modded V6 making your V8 look slow..... If it is all you can afford then go with it. Having a lower optioned mustang is better than not having a mustang at all. On the other hand if you own a stock V6 mustang dont be going around throwing out challenges or going to a local dragstrip saying you got something you don't. A wing and new markings don't make you in the same class as someone who has spent the money on higher optioned model.

If i had to choose i would take a v6 over rice rocket(rocket my a$$) but if i had to choose over a v6 or transam i would take the transam, just to show u 6ers how much better a v8 is, then after i proved my point with the transam i'd sell it and buy a v8 stang

I am glad to hear you would pick the Mustang over the import .... however how do you expect to afford a V8 Transam if you cant afford a V8 Mustang in the first place? That was my point above. The only trans am V8 you could buy witin the cost range of a V6 Mustang is probably over work and very high km / miles aka Junk. By bad mouthing V6 Mustangs you are discouraging people from wanting to own one and pushing them into other markets (Imports). Oh ya more ricerockets is just what we need... I would rather see Modified Mustangs.

The whole "afford" thing is bs.  I see people driving around in modified 6's all up and down the spectrum of years, '94-'03.  The price tag on a '99 3.8 Stang is greater than a clean '89 5liter.  And if they can't afford to spent a little extra for an 8, how's it they can afford to seriously mod a 6 to make it even worthy.

If I had only $2500 to buy a car, I'd get the most car for my money.  (Domestic of course).  Albeit, it's damn hard to find a good V8 Stang for this amount of cash, so I might cross the line and pick up an early seventies Camaro or Nova.  Whatever.  The point is, if you're going to buy a "Musclecar", at least get the best accelerating car you can for your budget.

A young friend of mine just picked up a clean '90 Stang with the 2.3 in it.  At least the kid is bright enough to just leave the damn thing stock and drive it until he assembles all the necessary parts to convert it into a stump pulling non-emissions small block car.  Simple.  He coulded affort the 4-6 g's for a five-oh car, so he'll wait.  Good.  Now I can respect this guy.  And when it's all said and done, his car will most likely put the spank on mine.  I don't care, at least he won't be wasting his dough trying to put the hurt on me with the g.d. 2.3 liter.

All of you guys need to stop talking about why mod a V6. The real question is Why mod any 2-Valve Mustang, unless it is a classic. By classic I dont my 1981 POS that barely starts. Any mustang that is not a 4 Vavle is just a waste of time and money to put anything in it. The resale value is less, aftermarket parts are crap that cost money. So stop crying about V6 mods because it is the same as moding a 2 Valve V8.

Why don't you pick up the latest issue of MMFF and look at the bad-azz Fox coupe that took Street Outlaw bragging rights home with him.  He broke the 200mph mark (new record) on a seven second pass!!  And that b*itch was runnin' only 2 valves......hmmm?

True, the 4.6L 4 valve Cobra's are better than the 2 valve GT's, but come on man.  There are thousands of 2 valve cars we'd all love to own.

Ps - Are the Top-Fueler's runnin' 2 or 4 valves?

I actually agree with you when you say if somebody wants a "muscle mustang" that will drive you back into the seat every time you hit the gas then yes you should save your cash until you can afford a 5.0 or 4.6 etc.  I however do not agree that the "afford" issue is bs.  Yes V8 Mustangs are great I own one myself. I also have friends that because of financial situations can not afford to own and operate a V8 Mustang. Some factors are a 20 - 25 year old male will have to pay alot more for insurance on a V8 Mustang than a 35 - 50 year old male. When I was deciding which car to go with I was told there was a $200 monthly difference between owning a V6 compared to a V8. Now of course this price will vary depending on where you live and company but geeze come on. Next you have to look at fuel. Yes on paper I know this is a dead issue it is very close if you drive the car reasonably. With a V8 under the hood how many people honestly don't rev it up a little more when entering a freeway or give it a little extra gas to hear that engine rumble. Even with ignoring the gas issue look at winter drivabilty. This is not an issue for southern stangs but alot of people living up north can not drive there mustang in the winter. Have you ever tried rolling out of your garage mid January the wheels just spin.  This means you have to purchase a winter beater. oh ya another 2000 - 3000 bucks gone not including winter storage. V8's are great, but affordabilty is an issue.

I think it is great that you would choose a V8 Mustang ... I did choose a V8 mustang....but your making it sound as if everyone can just go out and purchase one of these vehicles. If a 98 V6 cost the same as a 98 V8 then everyone would buy the V8. If that was the case and somebody purposely choose to Mod a V6 over a V8 then there is something wrong with there head. Then I would completely agree with every point you have made. But reality is that V8 do cost more money (see previous post) and sure it is great to say if your an true mustang fan go by the V8 but if you cant afford it  why not by a V6 and slowly upgraded it. You can always sell it down the road when you can better afford the higher optioned models. I have said it before I would rather see a modified Mustang than another damn Civic.

I know what your saying about how everyone cant afford a v8, but if somebody buys a semi-new v6( like say from '99' on, why dont they buy a earlier model v6 like, a 94-97, they could save more money) they wont, they'll want the newer model... All i am saying is if you have a v6 just as a temporary, thats  good because it is just temporary. Its just v6s have to learn their place when it comes to v8s, they have to admit that v8s are stronger, faster, and higher up on the popularity of people today.

Yes exactly and that is where we can agree. An V6 is not a V8. A V8 engine is stroger, faster, and yes will beat any stock V6 on the road. The argument I was trying to make is there is nothing wrong with Modding a V6. If my stock V8 losses to a Modded V6 Mustang than thats my fault for not upgrading my car. Maybe I am the one that shouldn't be out there. Since according to many people in this forum it is just as easy to upgrade a V8 as it is a V6. People who seriously mod these V6 engines deserve respect. The people who spend the money and do it right. The people who do not deserve respect are the ones plastering GT/Cobra/Saleen decals on there stock V6 and acting like they have something they don't. Those are the people who give Mustangs a bad rep and the ones who deserve to be laughed at.
