I have a shelby GT 07 4.6 I have made some minor mods to it in the past 6 months like JBA headers, Mid Pipe w/cats, Roush exhaust, Steeda CAI, and a SCT tune. I installed the CAI about a month ago so i had to have it dynoed for a proper tune. Man was i excited about it,the car came stock with 325 HP so i was expecting close to 400 horses with all the work (and money) i had put into the car. Man was I dissapointed, result were in and i must have read/stared at that sheet a thousand times looking for an explination. I had 295rwhp with 305 lb/tq which is about 340HP. I then realized that if i really wanted some serious power i needed to turn to a S/C. 1st I bought the whipple HO system which can put up 550 easy but i could only run 450 on stock internals. So thats where the project kinda lossed all control I decided that I wanted more than 450 so I was going to either have to forge all the internals and buy a short block assembly to hold the power or go with a new block. I went with the FR 500 aluminum Block which is the same block used in "the cammer" engine. The Fr500 changes my displacement to a 5.0 and because of that I needed custom head and piston work. I replace about everything in the internals including a new steel cobra crankshaft, and a GT500 fuel pump. I had to intsall a new fly wheel so i also went with a mcleod twin disc clutch, and a new viper spec t56 tranny. the only week point after all that was a the drive shaft so i went ahead and replace the stock one with an aluminum sypdershaft. I bought some sylicon tubes to cover all my hoses and the shelby gauge cluster to see wat was goin on under the hood! Then last but not least i changed out my shorty headers for JBA longtubes and a new set of mid pipes with cats. Right now im running 550 horses to break in the engine but i plan to push it up throught out the year my goal is 700-750 which will take a lil while. I bought some blk halo headlights with the fog lamps and sum led tailights for a unique look to the car aswell. the next project will be suspension work, and maybe change the 3.55 to 3.73 but i have to replenish my wallet first.

sounds like u have been busy. a slightly used gt500 would have been an easier route. i found one for 30k with 15k miles on her. wish i would have waited when i bought my gt for 24k. but your not alone in this struggle, since ford won't make a boss, i figured i will make one. i started with a 07 gt i have the suspension done, full exhaust is done, the striping done, just need some mercy from wifey to get the edelbrock s/c kit. also most of the dress up is done, would love to find a boss rear emblem and maybe some custom seats as well. well brother, good luck and keep it noisy.

i deff agree with the easier route... when i bought the car i didnt know much about the special edition specs... i thought that it was a gt500 07 which after research i found out it was far from it.. anyways i wanted it to be at that caliber of the gt500 so thats y i did it.. gluck with ur project too.. i was going to get a iron boss engine but i cudnt go against the aluminum block..

yea the alum block is tasty, but i wanted a near original. I went with eibach lowering springs and front struts, also rear control arms with foose 20's. car handles great, actually I slide in the seat when I get into corners. am thinking of a strut tower brace, you have one? how do the long tubes sound in relation to shorties?
