I am looking for a mustang that I can road race and can't decide between a 2001-2004 Cobra SVT or a later model 2005-2006 GT.  I know that the cobra's have the independent rear suspension and the debate about IRS vs Live axle is a huge one but I am also looking for a good platform to start with. The starting cost of these vehicles are in the same price range (15-20K) so that is not an issue.  I am looking for info on engine comparisons and out of the box handling characteristics? Naturally aspirated vs supercharged on a road course? How would these cars match up in NASA or SCCA stock class? etc.

my personal oppion would be the 05 and up the power on demand is there with no charger lag and better on track fuel milage the cobra would be good on longer courses where the gt would be optimum for shorter tracks and long tracks and the steeda handling kits are a good price and work reall good that i have seen
we will all have our day in court (tickets suck)
