I own a Azure blue 03 mach 1. I bought it with 0 miles on it in 03. I was going to leave it stock, but after putting about 15,000 miles on it and seeing alot of other mustangs on the roads with upgrades I have decided to add some myself. So far i have added chrome long tube BBK headers, BBk offroad X-pipe, and richmond 4:10 rear gears. Very noticable difference in performance. Was wondering what other bolt on or easy to install items i might be able to add. Also, is there a website i can visit that might have information on the after market upgrades for the Mach 1. Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated, i am a novice, but looking to gain knowledge.
Thanks freek515

You can add some underdrive pullies, I think BBK might have some. You could also get an air intake that works with your shaker. If you can afford it I would say to go with a supercharger.

yeah just what bullitt says. i am actually thinking about getting the underdrive pulleys myself since they are about the cheapest up grade. i have a BBK cold air intake but haven't seen one by that company for a mach 1 yet. how about a chip?

A Preditor should be better than a chip, how did you compesate for the gear change?

I've got the same model down to the color. What will work really well, and provide the most power for future modifications, as told by galpin ford,(as well as being what is on my car) is a jlt true cold air intake. It makes more power than the steeda (check the numbers) also, if you are going to get a tuning device (predator, sct...) don't bother with the c&L you'll just waste money seeing that you can self tune. Pulleys will add about 12hp (as advertised by steeda), 12-14 on the cold air intake (as advertised by jlt) you might get another 12 or so from the sct (which i have). Possibly consider some coils, they vary in what they offer, about 8hp from the msd, 12 from the granatelli, or weapon x (the granatellis are the least reliable i am told) Consider an aluminum drive shaft if you will be driving hard. It's a nice upgrade, and you should pick up about 5hp on the dyno. For maybe 20 dollars more on your oil changes, you can use a fully synthetic oil (amsoil, royal purple...) that will give you about another 3hp. Get a catback exhaust (good for about 10). Upon finishing your mods, get a tune through your tuning product (sct, predator...) that will give you approximately 20 extra horsepower, it will cost you about 120-150 an hour for about 3 hours. Other nice to have items for your stang would be irridium spark plugs, which will add a little power, as well as red-line water wetter which will help your car stay cooler by about 20 degrees, (extra couple horsepower found in those mods as well) Any questions hit me back

I realize this thread is old as dirt, but with the recent response, I thought I'd chime in as well...
You can't really take what is advertised as the word of truth. It's been proven time and time again, that #'s advertised aren't always #'s gained. Please don't run around adding up what's advertised hoping it's what you'll gain when your done it's really not that simple and you'll be disappointed.
JLTs intakes aren't as godly as everyone makes them seem. Check out some popular message boards and you'll see the feedback these intakes have been getting lately. C&L is by far a higher quality piece, with pretty much the same result.
On top of that, stick with the stock Coils, time and time again I've read about aftermarket COP's failing while looking into them myself.. Check out the Mach1Registry/SVTPerformance forums and you'll see more then one person disappointed with aftermarket COP's and returning to stock...
I'd personally stay away from underdrive pulleys, to many examples are out there of them causing failures or issues. Again, research.
You don't GAIN (it does free up power already there)any HP from an aluminum DS. You do however take weight off of rotating mass which allows the RPM's to climb with less effort on the engine. The same would go for lighter rims, aluminum flywheel, lightweight clutch, lightened gears, etc etc etc... Your not getting HP, your simply freeing up what's there.
Catbacks, dime a dozen used on various sites. You've got your pick of them!
