What gears ratio will work best for my stock 95 5.0 5sp gt 3:55 or 3:73?

I know I'll hear some smack about this, but I recommend leaving the stock gears (if it has 3.08's). I had a '95 w/ 3.08's and went backwards when I installed 3.55's. My friend had a '94, went with 3.73's and also went backwards in ET's. I spoke w/ reps from SVT and they couldn't explain it(worthless phone call). I then changed the computer to a 'modified' computer from Best Products(same Company that makes the Pro-M meters) and didn't make a difference(they did refund my money though after several heated phone calls). This is probably THE main reason that you don't find a lot of fast '94-'95 models. The best way that I had it explained to me is that the '94-'95 computers are designed to pull timing from the engine the higher the RPM's go. This would explain why the car(s) slow down (because they spend more time at higher RPM's w/ the steeper gears, and the computer has know way to know that they've been changed). With no other changes my car slowed down almost 3-tenths and 3.5mph (14.45@98.75 to 14.64@94.94w/the 14.64@94.94w/the new 3.55's). It would seem that the positive gear move would at least offset the timing reduction, but that wasn't the case.

Like I said, I ran 14.4's & 14.5's at 97-98mph trap speeds, so you'll need to knock about a full second off that.  Changing your heads to a good set of alum.(Edelbrock,AFR or TFS), an E-303 cam, a good intake (slightly ported Cobra, or a Elelbrock or Holly Systemax), long tube headers, 2-1/2" off-road H-pipe or X-pipe (or high-flow cats if you must), 2-1/2" muffler/tailpipe combo., 14 degree timing,UD pullies,K&N and some slicks should get you there. Good luck.

It is obvious you can not drive, because my cousin ran his 13.90's on street tires with only 3.55 gears.

Wise up smart ass.  'IF' someone ran a 13.9 on true 'street' tires with a stock engine '94-'95 GT, then they were probably running at a 'fast' track.  Tracks vary A LOT.  Anything from sea level to humidity to air temp. can affect your ET's & MPH.  So save for your smart ass comments. Only if you really knew.

And adding to the 'IF' part of rather your cousin ran 13.90's in a stock '94-'95 GT, I'm saying it didn't happen at all. So that means either your cousin is lying or you are lying. '94-'95 GT's don't run 13's. Don't believe me? Just go check out any of the many magazine tests from that era and look up the times for yourself. Or get off your a$$ and go to the track sometime. For a car to run 13.90's, it should produce a trap speed of around 100 mph or faster. '94-'95 GT's don't run those trap speeds. Thought I would educate you a little since it's looking like you need it.

For one you can keep my ass out of your mouth. Just because you can not drive does'nt mean it can't be done. Bring your educated self to Montgomery, AL and you will see time slips and if you get wrong you can see a lot more!

I have a 94 GT that I bought with 49,000 miles on it and bone stock and it was a turd, you would be lucky to run real 14.00. It came with 2.73 gears and I steped up to 3.55's. I drove the car quite a bit so I didnt want to kill my gas milage. Only about 8 months later I took them out and went with a set of 3.90's. I didnt think the 3.55's were tall enough. My car has a 306 with a paxton supercharger, it makes 415hp and 412 ft/lb or torque at the wheels and it would bog out of the hole on nitto drag radials. If you want some good track times out of a 94 or 95 go with the 3.73's and the engine mods mentioned by the other guy.
