alright,i put a b cam in my 89 GT 5 speed about a year ago. the car cammed hard. now it just doesnt cam like it should. the car sounds like its missing more than the cam sound. but the car runs fine. im an up coming auto tech so i have the tools to scan the EEC. it tells me e.g.o. not switching, and it has some smog pump codes(because its not there)the car is also running rich. i run accel 19 lbs injectors with a C and L meter with a stock fuel pressure. it also has a 70mm TB,track heat intake, long tubes,1.72 rockers, new vavle springs. the motor is in good running condistion. so it must be in the sensors. any help would be greatful
p.s. the car went 8.72 at 84mph with a 2.2 60 foot, now i have the car set up to hook. so im looking for a better ET (thats with stock heads and running problems i was talking about)

"the car cammed hard"
what?
"sounds like its missing more than the cam sound"
I'd hope that you never hear the cam, that would indicate a serious problem.

Lets see here, when you installed the cam did you give it a zero valve lash. Also I see that you put a 1.72 rocker arm on it, that brings your total lift numbers up a bit, and duration is up just alittle from the E cam. Did you have your heads looked at and maybe have new valve springs put in at cam change? What type of computer are you using to scan you EEC? Usually a rich condition at idle is caused by bad o2 sensors. A 2.2 60ft time is not hooking to well for your combo, was that 2.2 done with street tires? I would recommend getting a fuel gauge, adjustable fuel regulator (set to 40psi and work down),upper and lower control arms for the rear end and a set of sticky tires, either M/T ET STREETS or a good set of slicks perferably a 26 x 10's. That should get your 60ft down to at least a 1.8 or 1.9 60ft maybe lower, try lauching at 3500rpm's for a starting point. Another thing that I do is have the tires screwed to the rim, I noticed a difference in hook at the track even on a 13 second car.

the heads came from the shop because i blew a head gasket. so with the heads off i went ahead and camed the motor up. yes there is zero lash. new vavle springs for the cam,and i use a snap-on MODIS scanner. the latest codes are PCM-ROM fault and PCM-KAM fault. it also says its running lean. but that is bull. the car will burn your eyes. the motor is togather right, just something is wrong with efi setup. i have built carb. motors before and they ran like a dream, but im having a hard time with the computer controling things
Thanks Cody

I havent run into this problem, however, it is possible for your car to be running lean. You need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and visible gauge. I hope that you do not give up on the EFI cause once you have it set up you rarely have to touch it, tweeks that are made with small screwdrivers for fuel pressure. My 86 runs rich at idle only cause I DO NOT run o2's. Your problem is alittle different and I know that you already dont want to run ur motor lean.
