Hello everyone.  I have a 2002 Mustang GT with 5 speed and I am interested in getting 4:10 gears and Speed Cal installed.  I live just outside of Princeton, NJ and I am looking for a shop that could purchase/install the gears and Speed Cal.  I have checked with JDM and they wanted over 1000 dollars for gears, fluids, speed cal and installation.  Larocca Performance wanted 725 dollars for the same as JDM.  Mustang Magic seemed to be the cheapest for the above at 504 dollars but unfortunantely they are 200 miles round trip from my house.  I have tried to get through to Crazy Horse Racing but couldn't.  Does anyone know if they are still around?  If they are do they do good work?

Is there any other good performance shops out there that purchase/install gears?  Would it be better for me to purchase the gears and speed cal and have one of them install?  Thanks for any assistance you could give me

dude i think you better off buuying the gears yourself and the speedcal, u can find the speedcal at dallasmustang.com for like $106 including shipping. u can find some gears for a good price at gefracing.com

Thanks JAYS03GT.

I have thought about that route.  I know I can get the gears and speedcal cheaper that way.  I will be calling some of them back with that scenario and see how it works out.

My other option would be to take  a day off and drive up to Mustang Magic in Long Islang New York and get there deal..  I think 504 bucks installed with the gears, fluids and the speedcal is not a bad price.  The only bad thing is the 200 miles round trip.

I will see what it costs just to install the gears and speedcal if I purchase them and then make a decision.

Thanks again.

I just had my suspension (KB level 3)done by Crazy Horse Racing on my 01'Cobra...They did a very good job, but they're were a bit pricy.  Also, check out www.franksonestopauto.com they did my gears and exhaust on my 88' GT--very reasonable prices...

Good Luck

Thanks for the feedback luckychr1.  I have dealt with Downs Ford in the past and have had good luck with them.

I will give them a call.  I just got back from a 2 week vacation in Florida so funds are a little short but it will get done eventually.

Have you dealt with Outrageous Mustangs before?

Have a good one.

I have an 01 cobra and had 4:10s installed on my stang by the guys at Crazy Horse Racing in South Amboy.  They do a great job and they take their time to due it right.  I paid $900--but thats because the 01 cobra has an IRS.  I know for a fact they charge between $450 - 500 for a solid axle gear swap.  That other cobra poster---was a little misleading.  Its a *** taking apart an IRS as opposed to swapping gears on a solid axle.  So you'll definetely be paying less dude.

Hello 500RWHP,

Thanks for the reply.  I had heard things about CrazyHorse Racing and didn't bother to speak with them.  I have tried to log into their website and couldn't.

I will definitely give them a call and see how much it is.

I am still debating on buying the gears and bringing it to them for installation or having them purchase and install the gears.

Thanks again for the feedback

Paul,

I too am outside of Princeton.  One of our club's sponsors, http://topspeedautotech.com/ does a great job with gears.  Call them and ask for Joe or Phil.

NJSTANGFAN:

Thanks for the info.  I called them awhile back and gave me a good price.  Haven't purchased the gears yet due to some financial issues.  Looks like early spring next year for the gears and gear install.

I visited your site, nice.  Nice Black snake also.  I signed your register also.

Thanks again for the info and keep the hammer down.
