I recently bought my 96 gt shortly after my 17th b-day and right before I got it my insurance dropped because I owned a honda(all I could afford),my insurance doubled to start with. Since then my insurance has gone up three times as a result of my branch having to settle large claims on teenage drivers. I now pay 250.83 a month!!! I work at a motel in the largely tourist economy of pigeon forge. My mother didn't buy my car. It may not be the hardest job in the world but I feel better because I'm buying it myself. All because of stupid teens. I think road test's are in order for all teens to determine rates not stereotypes.  

01 mustang. how old are you?  anyways, its not only teens that "race" in the street. im also not saying we dont either. its also addults that race and go fast and "spin their tires". if you were to get mad at someone and you jumped in your car you would also burnout. plus not all teens like going fast. most of the time i try to take my time getting to my destination. the reason being? i love driving. i will also save the high speed racing for the quarter mile. if they give 200 dollar tickets to spectators of street racing imagine if your caught doing it. thanks folks. and teens keep your heads up. we are the future.

btw, i never said i was buying it. i am going to help my dad pay for it. i would rather buy it my self though. 

For the 100^th time I am 26.  Not 40, not 19.  Keep your head up all you want, just do us all a favor and keep your head out of your rear as well.  I started this discussion because of a stupid kid destroying a '99 Cobra.  Time and time again I said STUPID kid.  Not kid, not teenager, but stupid kid and stupid adults as well.  Are you one of the stupid ones?  You have to ask yourself that question.  Will you wrap you father's '05 around a telephone pole destroying his new car and killing his son?  That's up to you.  The kid in that black Cobra made his choice and although I doubt he's dead for it, he did trash a real nice car.  That stunt cost his parents' money, and in the future, me higher insurance.  That's all I'm saying.  I would guess that 5% of kids under 20 can handle a car with 250+ Hp responsibly.  I've been there and almost all of my friends couldn't, including myself.  It's only after paying $200+/month for insurance that I learned my lesson.

This post isn't attacking teenagers.  It's to inform and chastise the adults giving their kids sport cars.

Its all a case by case basis......a friend from youth bought numerous slow sh*t-boxes and wrecked over half of 'em.  I've owned "sport cars" since I was 17 and never wrecked a single one.....luck, God, skill, whatever.  The point is, some kids can handle their own. 

The guy with the 99 Cobra, just had a shot of bad luck, stupidity, what have you.  In this U.S.........(which is not a democracy, but a federal republic) we have the right to put our kids in whatever vehicle we chose.  If my child grows to be an intelligent, "lucky" teenager, I have that right to place him/her behind the wheel of a good looking, peppy car.  The main reason I bought my Fox coupe was to give it to my first child.......so be it, my choice.   

The world is full of idiots, oh how I know (pet-peeve), but the last thing we need is more regulation.  This kid with the 99 Cobra is an isolated case.............95% of the time when driving past an accident, I see it is middle aged men or women involved.

The problem is not these few kids that commit vehicular suicide/homicide, it is the insurance companies!!  My pops (57yrs old, no accident ever) has been with the same company for over 20 years, and they wanted to raise his rates based on a mistake he made on his credit history.....WTF????????  Credit now determines insurance rates????  F***.........THAT!!  We should not be fighting the few kids who are blessed with a nice "ride", we should light torches and be marching all over the insurance criminals!!
