I can actually picture you sitting at you security guard booth reading this messege polishing up your plastic badge. What a sad sorry sight you *** 4 cly driving poser.

Wow ....alot of respect going on here!!!!

Alot of you made very good points.

One thing that bugs me is that people here are saying they are responsible because they race on backroads. The only place to race responsibly is at the track! Yet it is more safe on backroads than down-town.

I think the "kid with the Cobra" story, is great example of respect to the Mustang (although making it look bad IMO with stickers and such). Here you have a kid with his dream car, burns up the streets with it , dresses it up to look nice (to him anyway) just shows that he loves the car. I'm willing to bet he learned a good lesson from wrecking it. Was he responsible? ... No   But honestly,do you really think Ford built a 390hp car for people that were not going to use it? The kid had fun...I think he paid the price for it, so we shouldn't bash him.

As for insurance....... sure people like that kid makes insurance go up for all of us but it's the company that you should be mad at. like someone already said, I also think insurance should be a case by case setup.

See, I disagree.

Putting clear out tail lights and 45 SVT badges on a Cobra is not showing any respect at all, neither is handing it over to a high school kid as a daily driver.  Would you do that to a '68?  Well?  Would you see a 1968 Mustang  GT 500 KR with make shift clear-out tail lights, 45 cobra decals and some gaudy stickers, not to mention worn smooth tires from countless burn outs being driven by a kid that works at McDonalds to be showing respect for the car?  How about sitting, front end smashed in, at a local body shop?  Come on, would you give a kid a loaded handgun and say, here, now go out and have fun, but don't shoot your eye out!  Of course not.  Any man that truly loves Mustangs and feels the need to give his kid a '99 Cobra would fall over dead before he let him/her desecrate it like that stupid kid did.  He would probably teach his kid how to handle 300 HP as well.  There was no respect shown what-so-ever.  Just a rich kid in a wealthy town who's parents bought him whatever he wanted.

Case closed.

I agree, that kid really did a dumb-sh*t thing to that beautiful car..........but, Hollywood wrecks sweet cars all day long for "entertainment".

You and I know better, but I believe if you have the means, please, indulge.  Cars are metal and plastic molded for our use or in this case abuse.  If this "kid" had done the same thing to a Hyundai, would you have even noticed?  So it's not a Hyundai, but a Cobra.  Maybe down the road it'll turn into a resto project for some father and son.......who knows.

Sounds like a bit of Cobra envy going on there '01 GT?.

Not so much envy as it is disgust.  I love Mustangs, I always have.  For some reason. Like many others on this site, I have a passion for Mustangs that will probably never die.  I do like Cobras, but do not wish to own one at this time.  I live in ffice:smarttags" />lace> and have to drive mine almost all the time (sob).  I just couldn't do that to a Cobra, or any other older Mustang for that matter.  Possibly later in life, if I can afford a car that can sit out winters, I will buy a Cobra of some sort, I also would like to restore a '92 LX 5.0 as well.  But not now, too many things to worry about.  I'm beginning school (again) in the fall to get a degree in industrial design/automotive design.  Who knows, I play my cards right I could possibly have a hand in the next mustang (sometime around 2014). Pipe dreams, I know.

Cobra envy?!  Has anyone else driven a 2003 Cobra?  Good night!  If I drove that thing as a daily driver my clutch leg would be 10" thick!  Not really meant for every day driving!

First of all ....I wouldn't even do that to the '99 Cobra , let alone a '68 GT500KR !

But just because none of us would do it, doesn't mean that other people (like that kid) have to follow OUR rules!

How did the kid disrespect the car?

Clear-out taillights? He liked them!

45 badges? (don't worry I cringe at that too!)  But he likes them too!

You see ?  Just because he fixed it up to the way he likes it, doesn't mean he disrespects the car.

As for the worn out tires,........well I don't blame the kid ! If I had the car I'd be doing burnouts too! My back tires are bald too, but that doesn't mean I disrespect my car, it just means that I like to burn rubber!

I agree with you on the fact that the kid is spoiled, but remeber this ....

he asked for a MUSTANG! Not some rice burner! That's respect right there!

WOW! YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME! PLEASE KNOCK IT OFF. THIS ALL STARTED ABOUT SOME POOR "KID" WRECKING HIS MUSTANG. THAT SUCKS. IF YOU CAN HONESTLY SAY YOU NEVER MESS AROUND ON THE  STREET THEN I UNDERSTAND YOUR AGRESSION. YOU KNOW AS WELL AS I DO EVERYBODY DOES A LITTLE BIT, SOME MORE THAN OTHERS. THE PLACE THAT I HANG OUT ITS THE OLDER GUYS WITH THE REALLY FAST TOYS THAT ARE THE ONES PUTTING UP THE DOUGH AND RACIN ON THE STREET. THE YOUNGER "KIDS" ARE TOO WORRIED ABOUT THERE FRICKIN NEONS NOT WORKING. YOU SHOULDNT BE GIVIN YOUNG GUYS CRAP ABOUT DRIVING POWERFUL CARS. AT LEAST THERE ARE STILL YOUNGER "KIDS" OUT THERE WHO ARE MORE INTERESTED IN A POWERFUL CAR VERSES AT PIMPED OUT HONDA WITH A GRAPEFRUIT LAUCHER MUFFLER. REMEMBER BAD THINGS HAPPENGOOD PEOPLE ALSO MAYBE THIS "KID" JUST HAD A BAD DAY. IM NOT TRYING TO KNOCK YOU GUYS DOWN BUT SOME "KID"CAN WRAP HIS MOMS TAURUS AROUND A TELEPHONE POLE JUST AS EASY AS IF HE WERE DRIVING A COBRA. MY FIRST CAR WAS AN 88 LX 50 I NEVER WRECKED AND I DROVE IT LIKE I DRIVE MY 94 AND MY 02 NOW AND IM 24 YEARS OLD. THESE "KIDS JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER THERE IS A TIME AND A PLACE FOR BURNOUTS AND #### LIKE THAT. YOUR GUYS KNOW THATS TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Copcoupe, you know your stuff when it comes to mustangs, and when i read posts people just dont like to be corrected. People say that everyone one the board hates you but i doubt you care, i think alot of people respect you for the way you are and your knowledge when it comes to mustangs.(you've explained alot of stuff to me about the 5.0s)

Thanks Pro,

I don't care what a few isolated people may say.  Some people just hate to hear the truth if it lies outside of their false perception.  I'm not perfect either, but at least when I'm wrong I'm willing to own up to it, not instigate personal attacks.

If you look back at my posts, I've only posted opinions against some people's viewpoints that I believe are wrong, to in turn get personal insults hurled.  To which I insult in like kind.

For example in this post, some believe it is wrong to give young guys a fast car...........I strongly disagree, so I guess that makes me an *** I don't know.  Whatever.

I agree, I have a fast car and it will be evn faster when im done with it. The kid who started this post is just ignorant, I have to deal with family members and parents friends who dont belaive i should have the car, i just feed off of it to prove them i can/will be able to handle my car. However me and the pops came to an agreement and the first 2 months i have my license i wll drive his truck in case i crash nothin would really happen to it. You can tell he is the kind of kid that beats on his car 24/7.

Ah.....what a nice little love fest ....... can you kiss his a$$ anymore there Pro ..... "I dont care that everyone else hates you I still like you"  Maybe you two should start your own "Private" messege board.  Come on there coup stop the BS.

You say you never  "instigate personal attacks" yet anybody who takes the time to look at any of your post will see that is a flat out lie. You like nothing more than starting arguments. Then when you have nothing left to argue about you pick out spelling mistakes to try to belittle the person your are arguing with. It is sad really, I dont mind arguing with you when you have a point to make but to nitpick at someone spelling shows how little you actually know. You act like such a victim when in fact your the a$$hole.  Apparently you have got this guy fooled but I just thought I would remind you alot of people still think your full of it.

There you go lying again...............guess its what you're best at.

Let me paste the Merriam-Webster definition for you. (Hopefully you can read it.)

Main Entry: 3lie
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): lied; ly·ing /'lI-i[ng]/
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English lEogan; akin to Old High German liogan to lie, Old Church Slavonic lugati
Date: before 12th century
intransitive senses
1 : to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive
2 : to create a false or misleading impression
transitive senses : to bring about by telling lies <lied his way out of trouble>

Ps - If you're gonna lie, at least try to back it up with some "proof".  Pulling statements out of context works best.
