will a 5.8 out of a 97 f-150 work in my 92 lx?

It sure will. You'll need a swap kit that includes the oil pan, motor mounts, headers, accessory drive, intake and a few other little things along with a 4 inch cowl hood but it'll go in and you can use your old harness. You might want to do a computer tune though.
