Here's the deal:  My buddy has a '94 mustang with the 6 and a 5 speed.  He's looking for more acceleration, the simplest fix is to do a gear swap.  However, to get a limited slip, gears, a kit, and it installed is going to be upwards of 600 dollars.  Here's the question, will the 7.5 6 cylinder rear end directly swap to an 8.8 out of a similar fox body?  If I can get away with it I'd like to avoid moving spring mounts and whatnot.  I realise I probably will have to get the driveshaft cut.  I'm sure this swap has been done before, but I haven't been able to find any information.  An 8.8 swap should be about half the price of beefing up the smaller 7.5.   Fords really aren't my territory, but i'm not biased like some of the other bowtie guys.  He's shooting for low 14's out of the 6, which I think is something attainable.

the only difference as far as bolting in an 8.8 is the 8.8 has quad shocks and the 7.5 doesn't.the drive shaft does not need to be cut.I've done this swap on a 89 4 banger to 5.0 conversion.but if the car is '94 and up make sure the 8.8 you get is from the same model year because the '94 and up rear is wider than the '86-'93 8.8.i think it's 1-2 inches wider.

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner been putting a lot of hours in at work.  Thanks for the reply, I'll have to see if I can find a newer wrecked GT.  As far as I know all of the GT's will have the traction-lok right?  From what i've read you can swap the quad shock brackets over, they were for traction purposes.

hey i had a 97 v-6 5 speed that put terror in the hearts of GT's, Cobra's, and believe it or not Vette's and Camaros too. I also had this swap done and it greatly helped out. on street tires, slick, or drag radials I beat everyone out of the gate. plus why spend 600 bucks when you can add a few hundred extra and have all that added insurance. I went through 3 7.5 rear ends [ quick note dont do doughnuts and burnouts for run with a 7.5... the spiders dont like it]  just my .02
