I have a 02 mustang gt, automatic and i was wondering if it is possible to change the heads in it to cobra heads, along with the cams. If it is possible how hard is it and what exactly would i need to do so. Is it direct bolt on or is there any mods, and how much horse gains would i get?

Yes it's possible as long as you realize how much work, effort and money this is going to be. Both heads, 4 cams, chains and sprockets, headers, new x/h pipe, intake, cooling system, computer change, all sensors, air intake and then mass air system. Still interested? Everything will bolt right on and depending on what year heads you get, you could have from 8.5:1 compression to 10.5:1. For higher compression, go with the '99-'01 head and the '01 intake to match. These are for a naturally aspirated combo and make good power, even in unported form. Patriot has these with full porting now and I say go for it.

thanks I have another quick question for you. how much NA horsepower do you think you can get from an 02 GT with out heads, cam, intake swap, and then how much addign them in. 5-speed, no emissions laws. i was thinking like 90mm MAF, cold air, catback, headers, off- road X-pipe, 75mm throttle body and ported intake plenum(what do you think about professional products? ) timing adjuster, diablosport programmer, intake and throttle body spacer.

With just bolt on's, you could easily get to 310 engine hp, and about 290 rwhp. That's enough to get into the 12's on slicks, adjustable rear shocks, 4:10 gears and aggressive driving. I've seen it done and I mean the exact combo you spit out. My brother's '02 GT and it ran 12.96 @102 and that was during 90 degrees and 95% humidity. Of course he was launching at 5000 and shifting at 6000. With a simple cam swap, add another 30 hp. Professional Products parts are good, just watch for extra casting flash if the parts are unported. If they are ported, they're great.

hey man whats been going on? sorry i have been on stangnet lately did you join up? i have had a lil debate going. as we all know mod motors like to rev, and while the 4v love 4.10's and it doesnt kill there top end on the freeway [ i have a friend with a 97 cobra and 4.10 that will outrun a vette on the freeway] i was wonderign how are they for 2v on the freeway? i do a lot of ighsped playign on the freeway and i dont want to lose my top end but i also like to play on the bottm and i go to the track alot. but pretty much everyone i know says go with 4.10's but they cant tell me how they do on the freeway. any help will be greatly appreciated as always

Just like the 4V, the 4:10's won't take too much off of your top end. At cruise speed, any step up from whatever you have now will add around 200 rpm more. That means it'll be around 5-6 mph loss but at that speed, does it matter? Once you get more power, it won't affect it hardly at all. And no I haven't joined the other group yet, I've been busy trying to sell this DSS crank kit I have and haven't had time to do much of anything extra just yet but I'll get on there.
