I am a new ford enthusiast I am 21 years old and dont have a large budget. I recently purchased a 1991 5.0 mustang convertible. The AOD trans has no overdrive and is slippingvery bad. My friend has an AOD trans from a 1993 t-bird sc. Will this work? If I cant fix it for cheap I may have to junk it. I dont want to do this as i like this car very much. I belive the tbird is a aode, look for a elec. connector on  the left side of the tranny in the back a 2pin connector. If it is a aod and the bird is a 5.0 it will fit.  It sounds like the direct clutch is burnt.  Really not that hard to fix, If you can take it out, I'am sure you can find someone to rebuild it for you. theres alot of little things you can do to these trannys
