I am thinking about selling my car ('66 mustang coupe) and getting a newer mustang and putting a 5.0 intercepter engine in it what do you think about this? or should I just start with a mustang and build it up?

There is no difference between a 5.0HO (86-93) and the 5.0 that came in the interceptor cars (86-93). The cam/heads/eec/etc. are all the same as the consumer model Mustangs.
What "newer" Stangs are you referring to?

I was thinking of a 94 or 95 + mustang. what are the different parts that the cop put into their mustangs? should I just build a mustang from the beginning and not worry about a intercepter? where and when do they have cop auctions?

I believe the only difference is an oil cooler.

The Intercepters had an oil cooler, heavier rear control arms, a bigger radiator, a hd clutch fan. All of these are alright but you can buy far better aftermarket pieces for less then the intercepter parts.
Big Thanks to my friends at KR Performance and Restoration out of Nebraska
