I have heard that same thing, one of the reasons I am holdinf off buying a new one, I have an 04GT, and am planning on gettin a new one for the wife. I have heard that with the supercharger it leans out the mix at WOT and then...well...ya know..lol......I have also heard they are workin on fixing the issue. I know that Kenne Bell is workin hard on the issue.

The rods/pistons on the 05 are made of pressed metal. This can be a bad thing if you put on a s/c and tune it too high. I have a Vortech s/c on my 05 GT and it is tuned to a "conservative" 417 rwhp. When you get close to 450....you will shorten the life span of your engine to a few months if you try to punch it hard a lot.

The vortech"s project mustang was stock right? If you buy the base kits available there should be no problem.

I thought the s197 3v motor had cast iron parts like the 2v. I researched a bit with a local shop as well as digging around some reputable sources on some forums and the 3v s197 motor should be able to handle about 450RWHP on stock internals. After that you need to rip strengthen the motor with forged internals even though the stock crank can handle 500RWHP, it makes sense to do everything while you have the motor out.
Even with the rated power output on the stock internals, the important thing is tuning. You have to have a good tune for any form of induction.

I've been making about 480rwhp on my07 GT with a stage 1 Kenne Bell kit. Its been about a year with no problems. I dont put a lot of mileage on it and dont race it that often though.

I have an 08 with a Kenne Bell S/C that I installed at 12,000 miles. I now have over 40,000 and no problems. I guess the question would be, are the 05 and 08 engines the same? If they are, you should have no problems if installed correctly and you haven't done anything that increases the load on the bottom end. Also, it produces around 500 - 520 RWH with their setup. Hope this answers your question.
