Someone please help me.  Is there anybody in this whole world that knows a little something about harmonic balancers?  Here's my problem:  I have an 83 mustang GT 5.0 5-speed.  My harmonic balancer needs to be replaced but for some reason nobody stocks one.  I know it is a 50oz. balancer but every thing available is for 84 and up.  The part # for my balancer is E1TZ-6316-A from the dealer.  The # on my balancer is E1TE-6316-B4A.  Ford Racing sells one that says it covers most 81-95 5.0L but it doen't clarify 83 Mustang, and the balancer is #E4TZ-6316-A which is the same 84-93 balancer #.  When I compare the balancers they are dimensionally the same and the only difference I see between the two balancers is that mine has three lightening holes on the front between 4 and 5 o'clock with the keyway at 12 o'clock.  The E4TZ balancer only has two holes at 3 o'clock.  Is this the big deal and also, is this going to have any bad effects on my car?  As you can tell I've been doing my homework on this and I'm about to pull out my hair now.  All this research and I can't get any definate answer.  This forum is my last chance at retaining any sanity that I might have left.

Thanks,

Those Ford part numbers are not all that relevant.............those are the drawing numbers Ford engineers give to the blueprints they draw up of parts for the machinists to build............if a blueprint needs editing or revision, they will change the numbers accordingly (not even Ford parts guys know the method for numbering).

A 50oz external is all you need, whatever the "new" part number is.
