I am the proud owner of a 1988 ford mustang coupe with a 5.0 HO and i'm only 17.  The car itself has 207,000 miles on it but I'm not sure about the motor because it's an original four cylinder.  Over the summer I am going to take the current motor out and would very much like to put new rotating assembly in.  I am very interested in a kit from Eagle but I'm not for sure yet.  My current motor is bone stock except for the cold air kit.  What i would love to do is be able to buy a new assembly and install it myself.  But like i said i am only 17 and even though my friends and I put together know quite a lot about cars and engines I'm not to sure if we would be able to put this in ourselves and i cant't afford to pay someone to do it.  I would like to know if there is a kit I can buy and if there are any books out there that could help on the install.  I would like to get a considerable about of boost in power but still be able to keep the stock heads for the time being.  I would like to eventually put some new GT-40 aluminum heads but that will be a while before that happens. I would love to be able to put forged internals inside without having clearence issues and eventually put the GT-40 heads on. If anyone knows of a specific kit I can purchase and where it can be purchased please let me know.  Thanks a lot.  MUSTANGS RULE!!!!!!!!!!

Go with DSS for the rotating assembly.  They can make it with any aftermarket parts you want and everything'll be balanced and blueprinted.  You won't be sorry.  For the books, check out Year One and they have a LOT of books for this from how to build the engine to how to tune it once it's in.  They should have what you need.
