Just a quick question, I am getting ready to order brushed stainless steel inserts for 2004 Cobra rear bumper, any suggestions on whom to order from?  I have found a variety of sources and prices,  my objective is to buy only one set and not have to replace every 2-3 years.

Also any thoughts on upgrading from 17" to 18" wheels, and if so how wide is practical on rear of 2004 Cobra.  I would like any pros and cons on upgrading to 18" wheels.  I plan on lowering 1-2" also.

Thanks for any comments.

Haven't tried the SS inserts yet, but I recently swapped out the rims on my 03 Cobra.  I stuck with the 17" rims since I wanted the performance more than the looks.  I bought 03/04 chrome replica 10 1/2" rims and 315/35/17 Nitto Drag Radials for the rear, but don't try to go with a 315 from another manufacturer.  The Nitto's are slightly smaller than normal.  (The BFG 315's were too wide to safely fit.)

Thank you for the reply on the nitto's.  One question, do they come in 18" that will fit a 04 Cobra?

One more question,  did you lower your 03?  if so what did you use and are you pleased with the results?

Thanks again for the response.

CobraCPA:

You're welcome.  Glad I could help.

Nitto makes a 305/35 R18 drag radial (and also a 285/35 R18) that should fit, but you'll want to check with the tire dealer to make sure.  If you go with this wide of tire, you'll definitely need a larger rear wheel/rim (at least 9.5" wide) since our 03/04 Cobras come stock with a 9" rim.

Also, if you move to the 18", you'll have to look for another style of wheel, since I'm not sure they make an 18" 03/04 replica rim larger than 9" wide. (The Cobra 2000 R wheels might be an option in an 18".  I think they're 9 1/2" wide.)

No, I haven't lowered my 03 yet, but I'm looking at Grigg's, MM and Kenny Brown.

Thanks again for your input, I appreciate input from anyone with a similar vehicle.  I am going to see Need For Speed, a local Mustang shop here in Clearwater , FL,  about lowering the car the correct way, and will post whatever I learn in the next week or so.

Thanks again.

i also have an 03 have not lowered. but have freinds with lowered mustangs the gave up alot of comfort in doing so. also i have a set of the inserts from upr but they are the polished ones i would imagine any of the main places like upr or ss would last a while
