i am attempting to put a 5.0 motor in my 4 cylinder fox mustang with a t5.I've read that the input shaft is smaller than that of a 5.0 and you need a conversion pilot shaft bearing that will fit the smaller input shaft.Does anyone know where to find one of these adapter bearings?I realize the 4 cylinder t5's are not as strong as the 8 cylinder ones, but i'm on a budget.Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

I swapped a Mustang 5.0 into a 2.3 T-Bird both 5 speed cars.I was warned before the swap that the input shafts were different in LENGTH,not just diameter.I had to use the Mustang trans. anyway because of the T-Bird's hydraulic clutch so I had both transmissions on hand when I did the swap. For my own satisfaction I put them nose to nose and they are indeed different.I think the 4 cyl.trans was at least an eighth to a quarter inch longer. I don't know if this would load the thrust bearing on the crankshaft or possibly the input shaft on the trans.or just break something but after seeing the difference with my own eyes I would not try a 4 cyl.trans. behind a 5.0 even with the proper pilot bearing.
