HELP... my mustang is not running right.
It starts, idols for several seconds to a minute, then it stalls. Once it stalls I cannot restart it unless I either press the gas peddle as it cranks or wait for the engine to cool back down. If I play with the gas it will run but as soon as I try to let it idol, it will stall.
A brief history... the motor was professionally put together and dynode with a 650 holley. It ran great on the engine dyno and pulled 439 HP at 6000 rpm and 433 torque at 4200 rpm. Since then, upon installation int my car, I decided to go EFI and keep things sort of "original".
I will try to provide as much detail as possible.
The car:
1990 mustang LX, 5 speed tremec TKO, 8.8 with 3:55 gears
The engine:
1990 5.0 block...stroked to 331, Comp Cams XE274HR-12 (part# 35-518-8), 10:1 CR, AFR 185 heads (part# 1420), Scorpion 1.6 Roller Rockers, Edelbrock performer RPM II intake, Edelbrock 70 mm throttle body with matching EGR spacer, C&L power pipe connected to C&L 76mm Mass air calibrated for 30# injectors connected to a BBK cold air in-fender air cleaner , FRPP 30# injectors, stock fuel rails, billet adjustable fuel pressure regulator, MSD EFI distributor (part #8598),Ford Motorsport shorty headers connected to a BBK high flow H-pipe with cats connected to Flowmasters. BBK underdrive pulleys. Canton 7qt. oil pan, Melling HP oil pump. All the pollution components are connected...Smog pump and all. Air Conditioning is connected also.
can it be the C&L mass air unit ??? I have heard they do not work well without the stock air box?? Any help or tips are greatly apreciated.
