Yall, I have some cobra R rims, which are 9 inches wide, and need some feedback on tire size. The stock tire is a 245/45 R17, which is on the rim now, but looks way too small. Not wide enough. Going to replace them with either a 255/45 R17 or a 275/40 R17. Anybody out there have these tires on a 9 inch rim? What's the verdict? Are the 255's wide enough? Are the 275's too wide? Why doesn't Ford Racing make an 8 inch rim, like the stock ones? Less filling or tastes great? I need answers! Anybody got pics? Thanks in advance for the help.98 cobracobra r rimsbassani x pipe and cat backford racing lowering springspro 5.0 shifter
there are a LOT of options available.. i found this list over at tirerack.. some of the sizes may only have one type of tire available.. some will have many.. i keep looking at the HUGE SINGLES they run on gas tanker trailers... thinking.. hum.. with a little cutting i could probably fit those under my fenders...245/35-17245/40-17245/45-17245/50-17245/55-17245/60-17245/65-17245/70-17245/75-17255/40-17255/45-17255/50-17255/55-17255/60-17255/65-17255/70-17255/75-17255/80-17265/40-17265/60-17265/65-17265/70-17275/35-17275/40-17275/55-17275/60-17275/65-17275/70-17285/40-17285/65-17285/70-17285/75-17295/35-17295/40-17305/65-17305/70-17315/35-17315/70-17335/35-17
Decided to ditch the 9 inch rims and go back to 8 inch rims that are stock width. That way I can use the stock size tires. Found a website, wheelsandcaps.com, that sells refurbished stock rims. It's an ebay store, so customer service hasn't been out of this world, but the rims did come in on time via UPS. And the rims look great. Anyone need some 95 cobra R wheels? In great condition, less than 5,000 miles on them.
