Im getting ready to buy an 04 mustang mach1 with m/t that has a blown motor. I can get a motor from a police car with 4.6l. i would like to know if the trans will bolt up to it and will i have to change flywheel. Should i take head and intake from the old one and put on new one. Is their any thing else i should know. Or what ngines would be better.
there are a bunch of different 4.6 motors..its not really if it will bolt it...its is it the same motor so the electronics and fuel controls will all workthere are 2, 3 and 4 valve 4.6L motors.. i don't know enough about the differences in these... but other forum members will ..please post the 8th digit of the vin number of the new mustang...then you can decipher which motor will fit.. actually anything can be installed.. its just the thousands of dollars to hook up and make one thats different run properly...
I will went i talk to the guy at work. Im getting the car for $1000 and i can the motor for $550. just want to make sure motor will fit and i was only use the lower part of the new motor all the upper from old unless they are the same. the new moter only has 47k on it.
sorry i was misinformed it is a 2003 gt with a 4.6l 2v with m/trans.
let me go back to where we started...there are a bunch of DIFFERENT 4.6 motors.. so yes it MAY fit.. depending on which version the new motor is???
